We have decided to branch out with our blogging and will now be diversifying by keeping you up-to-date on the latest wedding trends. The reason we wanted to do this was so that you can get inspiration for your wedding day - we know how difficult it can be as we are ourselves are preparing for our wedding at present and sometimes guidance and inspiration is much sought after! So let's get started .....
It seems that one of the top trends for UK weddings in 2015 will be Metallics - in particular silvers. But how did this trend start?
It's quite simple ..... Benedict Cumberbatch! Well, his new wife, Sophie Hunter to be precise.
For her wedding, Sophie had a custom made dress by fashion house Valentino. The dress was exquisite - it used a base of soft silver with a layer of lace details over this so it calmed the block colour down immensely. Couple this with bridemaids dresses that are elegant and put together with a simple white and grey hue pallete for your floral arrangements and you can't go wrong!
The trend itself is quite simple; its glamorous, looks expensive but isnt too shiny. The key to this look is using subtle silvers not in your face ones. The cheaper looking metallics are obvious to the eye and it is advised to stay clear of that.
For wedding cakes you might think how can I add silver into it yet keep it elegant? Anna of Anna Tyler Cakes uses one tier that is covered in edible silver leaf, nothing more, nothing less. It is a simple touch, but pairing it with different piping techniques on the other tiers and a plain white base similiar to the photo above gives a really sophisticated look.
When dressing your cake table why not add height and textures? It makes such a visually exciting set piece and will elevate your wedding into the realm of glossy-magazine luxury. Here the tablescape uses cut crystal candle sticks of different heights as well as simple small white bunches of roses. It gives it a timeless, quality and crisp feeling. Here a venetian style dressing table mirror has been used to reflect light into the space and give a real sense of grandeur.
The key to this look is texture - if everything looks the same flat colour, nothing will shine as effectively, so make sure you add in plenty of varying components. By pairing different silver palettes and chargers together you can achieve a stunning effect.
For true glamour, why not use sequined table cloths and chair backs? Pudding bridge of Bristol offer some wonderful ones for hire and having seen these in person they truly are stunning.
So if you are looking to add that special sparkle to your day, metallics may well be the way forward.
