A few weeks ago, I had the absolute pleasure of shooting at one of the few wedding venues near to us in Bath that we hadn’t yet been to – the fab Limpley Stoke Hotel, just on the outskirts of the city in the glorious Wiltshire countryside.
Amera and Ben are a great couple – when I first met them at Grounded in Bristol for their consultation (nearly a year to the day of their wedding!), they had been engaged a for a little while after Ben proposed while on holiday in the Dominican Republic. Both were really clear from day one that they wanted a relaxed day with friends and family for their wedding. They didn’t want to feel under pressure during the event itself, and Limpley Stoke’s relaxed environment was the perfect setting for them to unwind and enjoy their happy occasion.
I started the day with some outdoor shots of the venue before guests arrived, taking advantage of the beautiful hotel grounds and countryside location overlooking the Limpley Stoke valley. I then met up with Amera to do some shots with family and friends getting ready – always one of my favourite parts of a wedding as it’s the time when that last-minute excitement is mounting and final preparations are underway. Amera looked stunning in her dress, styled beautifully with Swarovski jewellery and accessories.
Later on as guests started arriving, I tried to blend into the background to capture family and friends unnoticed so I could get some really nice natural shots that captured the day without pressure or too many posed set-ups – it was lovely seeing everyone enjoying the anticipation for the ceremony and I got some great looking natural shots of friends and family.
After capturing the ceremony in the stunning Georgian Room, during reception drinks I took Ben and Amera out into the terrace area to take group shots in and around the garden area. The weather was lovely on the day itself, with far-reaching views of the beautiful Bath countryside.
Following the group shots, I took Ben and Amera away to have some couple time together to unwind and enjoy those precious moments after getting married. We took advantage of the hotel grounds, in particular the new Garden Gazebo area of the gardens overlooking the gorgeous landscaped gardens of the hotel. The stunning blue skies and sunshine on the day really highlighted the gardens and made for some bright, sunny photos that made the most of the British summertime.
Following the delicious looking wedding breakfast in the Tudor room, I had the opportunity to get some more relaxed shots of people unwinding before the evening reception commenced.
Amera and Ben opted for a photobooth from alongside their photography, which we always feel is a really fun complement to our professional photography. I loved shooting some more informal fun shots with guests enjoying the photobooth and relaxing before the party got started in the evening!
What I loved about Amera and Ben’s wedding was that from the outset they had said they didn’t want to feel under pressure on their wedding, and on the day itself that is exactly what they managed to achieve. As a photographer, it is so wonderful to see a couple’s initial wish list from that very first consultation come to life and be exactly what they said they had wanted from the day.
