As some of you who have met us at a wedding fair may already know, we like to run a little competition here at Always You Photography to offer a free engagement shoot to one of the couples we get to meet each fair season.
This time round, our lucky couple were Zoe and Dean, who we met at Corsham! Zoe and Dean were a great couple to work with, as Zoe was absolutely buzzing with fun and colourful ideas for their engagement shoot – a photographer’s dream come true!
The shoot itself took place in Vincient Woods – a small woodland area near Corsham and Chippenham. For the shoot, our agenda was to use bold colours and create some fun shots that really captured Zoe and Dean’s bubbly personalities and create some really fun photos!
As well as utilising the beauty of the woodland surroundings, we added splashes of colour using props such as balloons, confetti and bubbles to create some really striking contrasts with the more natural and earthy tones of the trees and shrubbery.
As usual, the lighting of the woodlands is always fantastic for creating some dreamy shots, and after unloading our cars with dozens of helium balloons, we went for a walk through the winding paths - only a few of the balloons were harmed in the making of these photos thanks to the spiky bushes and plants of the forest, however towards the end of the shoot the colourful bunch did unfortunately escape us! Rogue balloons aside, we were able to capture some really pretty shots with this young, fun couple!
A challenge with all engagement shoots (and wedding photography in general!) was to make the shots as natural as possible without feeling forced, and so we encouraged Zoe and Dean to interact with each other as naturally as possible. We always find the best shots come when the couple start to forget they are being photographed, and I was really pleased that most of the fun and smiles that came through in the photos was completely unscripted and really capture Zoe and Dean’s natural interactions with each other – such a lovely couple to be around!
