When I first met Sam & Phil, they were both quite nervous about being photographed. They told me that they really didn’t enjoy being photographed and wanted someone who would make them feel relaxed and not be pushy on the day.
This is often the case with couples on their wedding day, as after all it can be quite daunting – not only receiving all the love and attention from family and friends, but being followed around with a camera too can feel really overwhelming! My approach was to be incredibly candid, not get in the way and blend into the background to get some really beautiful and natural shots which meant that they soon forgot they were being photographed at all! In writing this blog, I was pleased to say that I had so many lovely photos to choose from of this lovely couple that I really was spoilt for choice!
Sam and Phil wanted their day to be a real celebration for all of their friends and loved ones – family and friends enjoying the day and having a good time was absolutely key to them both.
Sam and Phil got married at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Timsbury near Bath, a lovely church in the middle of the countryside. I enjoyed taking some candid shots of the couple and their guests during their beautiful intimate ceremony.
Following the ceremony, en-route to their reception at Saltford Golf Club, I was able to use the fields around the outskirts of Bath as backdrops for their couple shots.
Sam put an awful lot of effort into the smaller details of the day, with lovely orange tones on all of the styling and echoed in the wedding party's ensemble and floral arrangements, with delicate succulents used as wedding favours for guests. A lot of styling was self-made by Sam, adding a really extra special personal touch.
We were lucky enough to get views of the amazing sunsets in the rural location, which I was able to use to create some beautiful silhouette shots using the natural last light of the day.
Outdoor games to entertain the kids and sparklers in the evening really gave a sense of warmth and fun to the evening do, and the golf club idea was played upon in our photos – utilising golf balls and a golf cart!
The best thing remember I will remember from the day was that Sam and Phil got exactly what they wanted from their wedding, with every detail considered - every family member was happy, the hog roast was a great treat and people were relaxed and having fun – exactly what they had described they wanted from their day and the fear that they had talked about all disappeared!
