When I first met Kara and Glenn to discuss their wedding over a coffee at Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet, what they really wanted out of their day was a relaxed feel. The photography was so important to them, as it immortalised the story of their day, and they really wanted the photos to capture the family feel. They also really wanted a photographer who would really fit in with the vintage afternoon tea theme of the day, and as a lot of you will know - here at Always You Photography, we can't get enough of the vintage style!
The wedding itself took place at the stunning Bowlish House in Shepton Mallet. The ceremony took place inside the beautiful manor, with the vintage-styled reception taking pride of place in the marquee outside in the garden area.
Styling was a huge part of Kara and Glenn’s day – they collected vintage china for months in the run-up to the wedding and styled the venue personally to make sure it reflected the beautiful British afternoon tea theme wonderfully! I absolutely could not get enough of the vintage styling and beautiful table displays.
The weather on the day was quite a mixed bag, quite overcast and showers on and off all day – this meant that you had to juggle group and couple shots really carefully, mixing the interior of the venue with outdoor photography when the weather allowed it.
Weather on the day is always a worry for couples, but actually I find that it can often force you to be even more creative with your shot set-ups, and with Kara and Glenn’s day I just loved the beautiful warmth that is visible in the interior shots – it captured the day and the cosy venue just perfectly!
What I will always remember about Kara and Glenn’s day was that it felt like a real family affair – their children were such a huge part of the day itself, and the sense of warmth, love and family was so important to this pair. I was honoured to be allowed to be a part of it and tell just this one small part of their much larger story.
