Sian and Jon were a couple very close to our hearts – they were one of the first couples we met at our very first wedding fair, and one of our very first consultations way back when we first set-up Always You Photography! While it may have been a while coming, and we had since shot dozens of weddings before then, it was an extra special treat to see the day of their dreams come to life! When we originally met them for our consultation in Bristol, this fun-loving pair told us about their plans for a church ceremony at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Hullavington, WIltshire – very near to her parents house – followed by reception at The Moonraker – a beautiful, recently renovated venue near Bradford-on-Avon. Sian absolutely loved the vintage style, and as a visual merchandiser had some really exciting ideas for the styling of the day. We got on like a house on fire, and the consultation lasted quite a while thanks to all of the laughing!
On the day itself, I started out by meeting Sian at her parent’s house in Hullavington to capture some shots of Sian and her family getting ready for the day. Jon had left a lovely surprise present for Sian – a stunning Mulberry handbag, that she had been eyeing up for quite some time!
After departing, I moved to the The Star pub to meet Jon and the boys as they enjoyed a few drinks before the ceremony. I always think it is so great to get to spend some time not only with the bridal party, but the boys too in the build-up to the big event, and I loved having the opportunity to shoot some informal group shots with the lads in and around the pub. I absolutely loved the classic blue suits and colourful ties with matching pocket-squares Jon had chosen for himself and groomsmen – I totally had tie envy!
After a short wait, Sian arrived in her vintage-style wedding car, and looked absolutely beautiful in her delicate lace dress by Charlotte Balbier. The ceremony itself was everything that a church ceremony should be – absolutely full of family, emotion and classic style. I really enjoyed capturing the reactions of the guests and the real sense of excitement and joy in the air!
After seeing Sian and Jon off in style, we made our way to The Moonraker – a beautiful hotel in Bradford-on-Avon – and managed to spend a little time capturing the beautiful styling details Sian and Jon had put on display. Sian had done a lot of the work herself, including beautiful calligraphy-based wooden boards and foliage. The whole look of the venue had a really professional finish that was accentuated by the beautiful pops of colour in the floral displays by the fab Laura at the The Pink Peony Floral Studio.
After spending some time with friends and family, capturing the buzz in the air during a performance by the fab Just 3 Harmony Trio followed by the group shots, the wedding guests and the happy couple sat down for their wedding breakfast. During this time, I was able to spend a good amount of time in and around the venue capturing all the small details before returning to capture the speeches.
After the speeches, and as guests prepared for the evening reception, I was able to spend some time alone with Sian and Jon to capture some more intimate shots with the pair whilst they enjoyed those precious few hours after getting married. I really enjoyed being able to capture some really natural shots in the various cosy snug areas of the venue and utilising the dusky light of the early evening.
It was such a joy to see Sian and Jon get the day they had told me all about way back when, and what I will always remember about it was the sense of fun they managed to inject throughout the day – I’m sure that the rest of their love story will be just as happy!
